Finally

All right, okay. Libraries are about information. All kinds of information. Some of this new information comes too fast or when I don't want it. Some of it is too silly for me. Most of it I simply do not care about. Right now. But, it is all good to know in case a patron wants it. After all, a lot of people read things I would throw away. All kinds it takes.
After all this time and effort and the guilt, yes I felt guilty when I wasn't 2.0ing and felt guilty when I was, I don't get anything except knowledge for knowledge's sake. I don't get anything CEUs because you don't think Circulation staff have enough education to continue with. It should be known, it should be written that we did this too. It should go towards a promotion.

audiobooks

ALLRIGHT!!!!!!This is what I'M talking about! Just look at all those books. And people I get them when I want them. They don't rss or pop in when I don't want them. After all, I am so old school all I want from my library is books. (sorry).

pod casts

I am not ready for this. I do not want podcasts popping up with new stuff and getting in my way. I don't want to be told to close all applications because there isn't enough room to do our regular work. But if I ever need a podcast they are certainly well organized. Podcast has a directory and Yahoo has a catalogue. IF I need one at least I can find one, I hope.

u toob

I tried the howto & diy. This might be helpful but it doesn't have an index. I used the subject line and it gave a lot on half the topic. I used "repair skates" and got a lot of boobtube on skaters and the stupid stuff and nothing on fixing the skate after you dulled it up and covered it in blood by ramming it into your partner's face. The tube seems to me to be for entertainment of the silly kind. I would never tell a patron to try it as a reference tool.

number 19

From the Web 2 awards I found Zillow. Zillow is a real estate site. This will be totally useful as we gear up for BRAC. Wonder of wonders, the first thing one sees is a home listed in Darlington! This thing is national and we are right up there. My lucky day to have this show up during my exploration.

productivity?

All right. I looked at it. I'll keep it in mind too. It will be useful IF it will go from works to word. I don't have time to investigate right now, though and I do not need this right now. I looked. I saw. I liked it. I'll be back.

Sand Box # 17

Okay, I posted to the "sandbox" wiki. I found an apropos wiki about cats and sandboxes. enough said.

wiki useful?

Okay, in a closed environment ie.: library employees, information in a wki could be taken as gospel. As a community site to share information about the area, a wiki would be so much fun and useful. As a place to gather information that might be really important to you or for a paper, I have doubts. As a place to start when you have a subject but have not got a clue as how to go on, a wiki would indeed be useful. After as quick looksee it would be best to go to validated sites and get the "right stuff". I simply do not trust wikis except for fun.

Web Library 2.0

Library 2.0 and beyond. The furture is in our heads. We won't need buildings. Just tongue your implant and join in to the web feed in your head. This may not be so very far away; think about those with a bluetooth stuck on them. They will will be the first to join the web/library. What will happen to us? I am glad to be so old that my present fear is out lasting the need for self serve. It is all exciting and very scary.

technorati

sounds like a part of the DaVinci code. sounds almost evil and controlling. Actually, there is so much here the mind boggles or bloggles. So I joined; I have an account. Now I must practice to streamline what I call for so I can Use it. So far, what I've seen I don't care to know about.

so tas.ty

this delicious thing is a very tasty idea, if one has multiple things to remember. I opened my account and now will see how and if it actually goes with me to the back room here and then to the firefox at the house. I am hopeful that it is easier to use than read about.

ROLLYO

Rollyo-well. This is perhaps sad but, I simply do not have a list of related websites or reference tools. If I find a site I need more than once, I bookmark it. I don't have a need for a rollyo account. I have said before: animals, kids, house, full time job--no time for playing on the web. So I fail.

library thing

library thing! It would be wonderful to get our patrons who ask "Does that computer tell you what I read last week?" involved in this. They would become savvy about sites that linked series types. They would find new authors. They would not need a librarian. They would simply need a trainer to get started.

pictures truely

Oh ho! Flikr!? Now even pictures are not true. Mash a bunch together and something else is there. It isn't what it was and might not be what it is. You say you don't take pictures? I don't. So now I can use someone elses and since you don't know or care who I am, I can be him.

blog as gossip

Blogs as gossip as inuendo as rumor. Afterall, who are you? Who am I ? But for those of us who really, really don't believe what the next guy has to say and are not going to tell the whole truth either, here is our blog. And Dudes, if gossip is true, is it gossip?
